The role of Sales & Brand Assistant is always busy, with no two days ever the same! My day begins by reviewing a checklist of tasks from my line manager which are often revised throughout the course of the day to meet client and co-worker deadlines. The daily morning catch-up with my team on “What’s Hot” allows me to revise any previous tasks, adjust and re-set new priorities, then it’s on to the business of the day.
My role is very much one of collaboration. Working alongside the marine engineers, brand and sales teams, QHSE and Finance teams, I am responsible for supporting sales initiatives such as client presentations, and collating market research to inform the development of our business capabilities. Setting aside some time to read through public procurement portals, I then gauge which current or proposed Oil & Gas and Renewable projects would be a great fit for our skills and capabilities and pass these on to my team for review, discussion and action.
As part of my continual development in this role, I have recently started preparing and delivering client estimates in response to requests for transportation scopes. Key preparation involves collating information on what supply chain services are required for a given scope, along with establishing the engineering requirements. I then create a costing sheet with all other associated costs and complete a proposal document, with our quotation, to send to the client.
One of the most enjoyable parts of my role is developing brand awareness on social media platforms – a vital tool showcasing our company’s expertise and commitment to innovation.. Time is spent attending Brand meetings and collaborating with team members on how we can create fresh, new methods of interaction with our ever-growing number of on-line followers. I’m tasked to bring our social media platforms to life, creatively, through Instagram and Facebook and present our proposals to our Directors – which can be a nerve wracking but exciting prospect!
As the day draws to a close, I always leave time for reflection, to draw from each aspect of my day and feed this back to the wider teams. Through touching upon market research, product development and tenders, teamed with direct client interaction, my role provides me with an unrivalled view of the client journey. Allowing myself to reflect and share this insight enables us as a company to do what we do best, tailoring our expertise and offering to client needs.
